The Bodybuilding Vegan bulk is officially on.
Today marks Day 1 of my 6-month push to reach a lean 275 lbs on a fully vegan diet- starting from a baseline weight of 237.6 lbs.
To prime my digestion and reset before the bulk, I did a fruit fast yesterday- just fresh, whole fruit to give my system a little break before diving into the calorie surplus ahead.

I’m John, aka The Bodybuilding Vegan, and I’ve been vegan for nearly 20 years, and bodybuilding for 17. But this bulk? It’s the biggest and most intense one I’ve ever attempted. And I’m bringing you along for every step of the journey- physique updates, nutrition breakdowns, training shifts, and even the “super supplements” I can’t post on social media.
First Check In: Rusty But Ready

I haven’t done a formal check-in in a while, and man… I felt it.
There were a lot of pops and cracks taking those first physique photos. 😅
It reminded me that bodybuilding isn’t just about lifting weights- it’s a full-on sport, art, and science that requires practice. And I’m definitely out of practice. These check-ins themselves are part of the process. They force you to slow down, observe, reflect, and refine. I’m rusty, sure. But I’m excited to watch these weekly check-ins evolve over time.
